Earthquake In Chile

An Earthquake Woke Us UP Shaking our Beds

Chile had a 7.0 size earthquake Saturday night at about 11:30. I was in bed sleeping and then there was a little shake but I thought that it was just my companion moving on the bottom bunk and then the shaking got a little harder and I kind of woke up.  The whole bed was just shaking and then I was a little scared because our bed is about to fall apart without an earthquake! Thank you for the sleeping bag, I love it! It is really warm and it helps me not fall off the bed because I can’t roll around and fall off.

(Here is a link with details about the earthquake: http://news.lalate.com/2017/04/26/chile-earthquake-today-2017-hits-near-peru-bolivia/)

I just got news from my college roommate that one roommate is going to Denmark and the other is in El Salvador.

Right now, I am doing great, I’m ending my training this week, I have almost 18 weeks in the mission.

We have had some people come to church and they are preparing to be baptized on the 30th of April. They are from Haiti.

On our P-days we usually play soccer and hang out as a zone. Today one of our zone leaders is going home in a week so we are really working hard.

Spanish is hard. Some of the grammar rules don’t make sense but I can have a conversation with the people if I need too. I can understand a lot but I just don’t know all the words so every day I am trying to learn 5 new words.

Normally we get up at 7 am and work out and then we get ready and study. After that we go eat lunch with the members and then we tract to find new people to teach. We are about 15 minutes from the ocean by car. Our mission president's home is about 5 minutes from the ocean. I have seen the ocean a few times but we can’t go within 3 blocks of the beach so I will probably never see it.

Every 6 weeks we have a zone conference and we met with the mission president in person. We also meet with investigators and try to help them come unto Christ and improve their lives. We walk a lot and then walk some more! The only time we take a bus is when we go to the store or into Vina del Mar.

For Easter we held a special event and got 500 referrals’ to teach and all of South America got 2,800. So, we got like 20 percent of them.

Our mission president got to meet with Elder Nelson last week and this month we are having a meeting with Elder Ballard’s son.

I am really loving Chile and I love all of you and want you to know that I am doing fine.

My Favorite Conference Talk, Called to the Work by Elder David A. Bednar

Elder Fausett's favorite conference talk was given by Elder David A. Bednar,

Dear Mom and Dad,

This week we had a goal for anyone who wanted to be baptized on April 23rd to come to church Sunday. We went by all the investigators houses and none of them wanted to go. It was really heartbreaking, but we continued to keep walking to church and I said a prayer that if there was someone who was to be baptized on the 23rd that Heavenly Father would help us find them. Not ten seconds later a car stopped us and it was an investigator family on their way to church! We also found a man from Haiti who came here to find a new life and he also went to church with the Sisters in our zone. These have been the biggest blessings so far in my mission. I know God doesn’t always help us in our time, but in his and in that moment I knew his hand was in the work we were doing. It was fantastic!

Elder Faucett

Letter from Elder Fausett April 3, 2017

“If you have not read the Book of Mormon, read it… if you do so prayerfully and with sincere desire to know the truth, the Holy Ghost will manifest it’s truth to you.”

President Thomas S. Monson

Dear Mom and  Dad,

We got to watch all of conference and it was so cool. Elder Bragg came to our stake in Chile and he spoke Saturday morning. The brother that gave the closing prayer in that same session lives in the Vina mission! I got to watch Elder Holland's talk in spanish with an investigator and there was so much more like the new temples ahhhhhhh I'm so happy about that and I loved the talk by President Monson, it was great! Elder Christoferson translates his own talks into Spanish for conference. I have also seen some cool things called mission belts. I love you, miss you and thank you for everything, I’m so grateful for everything you have done for me. Love you mom and dad.

Letter on 2-19-17

Dear Fausett Family,

I was on assignment this weekend in Belloto on a stake reorganization and had the opportunity to meet your wonderful son ! He is doing well and is in a terrific stake. He is happy, healthy and working very hard. He is with a good companion who has 5 months in the mission! I know that I am preaching to the choir but he is a terrific young man and we are blessed to have Elder Fausett in the area!

He clearly comes from a loving family. I hope the photos help a little with natural feelings of missing your loving son!

Un abrazo

February 13, 2017 Update

February 13, 2017 Update

My companion is from AF. When I got here, I was like, wow . . American Fork, Utah, not AF, Idaho, hahaha. I am currently serving in an area called Belloto 1. My area has not been able to have a baptism for almost a year and we have two baptism dates so we are excited. I am with Elder Thompson and we are doing so well. He is very cool. I also went out with some other missionaries. One of them is from Wyoming and he knows Kodee Vining. It was cool.

I have made some great friends already. The missionaries I served with in the MTC, we were all really close. But now, with Elder Thompson, we are really getting along well too.

I hope that everything back home is going well. I hope everyone back home is having fun and staying safe. Keep the emails coming, I am loving them.

Love Elder Fausett

Chili Mission District 1

District 1

Asistente Administrativo
Centro de Capacitación Misional de Chile

English Translation: We admire you all for all that you do. We hope that the MTC will be a fountain of inspiration and motivation to serve the Lord faithfully, with the most exact obedience. Continue applying the fundamentals that you have learned here and keep learning in your training. They will give you the guide that you will need to find, teach, repentance, retain, and baptize more converts looking towards the temple. A big hug and handshake.

Elder Fausett and his cousin Elder Beck are both pictured in the back row. They are both on missions now. Here is a picture of a few of the cousins who will be cheering the missionaries on from Idaho.
